This is a nice map with the quality you expect from National Geographic. It's rather large being 18"x48" so it's rich with detail. The only "con" is that it will take up some space on your wall. I bought this map for my wife to use to plan some hikes on the PCT.It comes safely packaged and the print is itself is of great quality. If you want a large map of the PCT then this is the map for you.
I looked around at all the free high resolution maps I could find so I could print it myself. I found big ugly maps, or pretty small maps. But nothing that fit my needs. I broke down and bought this map and it's exactly what I wanted from the start.Some people complained the PCT line is too faint, but I thought it was just fine. Maybe that's because I know where it is already so my eye automatically goes to the general area of the trail.
The map itself is excellent; however, the line for The Pacific Coast Trail is a little light for my taste. A bolder, blacker line would be better, in my opinion. I actually bolded the line myself with a black marker, and now I can see it clearly from as far as 5/6 feet away.
Great map for inspiration and for a planning guide. Get one for friends and family before you hike the PCT so they can follow your progress. (This is not an item you'll use on the trail, and l guess if this isn't self evident, you aren't ready for your trek.)
I was really looking for a map that I could highlight sections of the PCT that I had completed and I am able to with this map. It is quite tall and has a lot of great info on it. I plan on getting it laminated to preserve the map once hung on the wall still allowing me to use a grease pencil to mark off sections. So glad I found this without it costing an arm and a leg!
Quite detailed. Excellent depiction of topography. I wish the red outline of the PCTwere more DISTINCT. I enhanced the route with a fine tip red marker.

This is a lovely set of dog designs by Amanda Neel. I already own her two previous books for specific animal types “Lovely Cats†and “Beautiful Horses†and have been enjoying coloring in that book. This book of various dog breeds is just as beautiful and, as with the horse book, has an added advantage of having the designs in the standard size as well as a smaller 5 x 7 inches as well. That way, you can use the smaller design to test colors or simply to have another copy of the design in a smaller format to color or to share. I like the smaller designs for use with cards. I can cut them out, color them, and add them to the front of my home-made card.The dogs are set in various scenes – so you get a real picture of where the dog may be rather than just a head shot or full body of the animal. These are realistic drawings of dogs rather than the more common “doodle style†artwork. The breed types are printed on the smaller designs but not on the full page version, which is nice so you don't have to deal with print obscuring part of the design. I'll list those breeds at the end of this review for anyone interested. I like Ms. Neel's drawing style. She adds a really nice level of detail.The designs are printed on thin white non-perforated paper which is typical of CreateSpace publications. The binding of this book is glued rather than sewn or stapled. There is plenty of room to cut the page out if you wish though the space is a little tight on the smaller size designs and you will need to be careful when cutting those out. All designs stop well before the margin. The artist has placed a framing line around each design which helps me tremendously as a colorist. It gives me a natural stopping point which saves me time and ink.Coloring pencils work well on this paper and behave as expected for their lead type (soft or hard.) The hard lead can leave indents on the back of the page if you are a tad heavy handed as I am. Both alcohol and water based markers bleed through. My gel pens all leave a color shadow on the back of the page. As these designs are printed on only one side of the paper, these issues are not a problem – I am now using a piece of chipboard under my work to keep ink from leaking through to ruin the design below. You can use heavyweight paper or card stock but be sure to check to see how many layers you need to keep it from leaking through. The reason I like chipboard is it can be reused over and over again and is available at office supply stores or on-line. I'll include, in the comments section of this review, a list of the coloring medium I used to test this book.The breeds listed are as follows: German Shepherd, Afghan Hound, American Cocker Spaniel, Golden Retriever, Yorkshire Terrier, Gordon Setter (puppy), Shetland Sheepdog, Australian Shepherd, Bernese Mountain Dog, Pembroke Corgi, Beagle, Poodle, German Shepherd (second design), Dalmatian, Labrador, West Highland White Terrier, Gordon Setter (adult), Russel Terrier, Doberman, Alaskan Malamute, Siberian Husky, Alaskan Malamute (second design), Papillon, and Chihuahua.
There are lots of dogs to color and it also has mini drawings of dogs in the second half of the book. The paper is a little bit thicker than printer paper and it had a slightly bumpy texture. I used markers and it did not leak through.
Every year after Thanksgiving, our family does an activity together. This year I pu together a FAMILY COLORING BOX present and purchased many quality coloring books, colored pencils, markers and crayons. We are a family of dog lovers, so this book in particular was a big hit!
THIS COLORING BOOK IS SURE NAMES RIGHT. THE PICTURES ARE SO PRETTY. MY GRAND DAUGHTER HAD A FIT OVER THIS BOOK. AND THE PICTURES SHES COLORED ARE REALLY BEAUTIFUL.

This book is amazing - it shows you how to get into the pose, what the pose is beneficial for, gives you a 360 degree view of each pose and he then provides various modifications for each pose to take you through the months as you build your practice. The last part of the book give you a series of poses that are beneficial for various ailments or issues. This is an amazing book and I wish I had it sooner!
This book is changing my practice. First it is beautiful and coffee table quality. Secondly, the clear photos and descriptions, along with the organization of the book, have made it very a useful adjunct to my yoga classes. I am practicing more regularly and with clearer intention. Also pronouncing the Sanskrit names before each pose, which was hard before because although I had heard them in class, I hadn't seen them in writing associated with the pose before. Not that this is terribly important, but it makes me feel like a sincere student now. There are helpful sections organized around various ailments to help choose appropriate therapeutic poses.
This is the best book on Yoga!!! I have been doing yoga for 25 years and wanted to share this book with my sister for her health concerns! I have the older version. I have to say that I am so happy to have also purchased one for myself! It is so much more detailed than my original copy!! Awesome!! And my sister loves it too!! She has even gotten her husband to use it!! SCORE!!
Couldn’t live without this comprehensive volume.I can’t always remember how we did our postures in my weekly class so find this very helpful with its illustrations and step by step instruction. Each asana has variations and things to look out for to make sure you stay safe in your practice.I really love reading Iyengar’s philosophies and metaphysical comments at the back of the book. And the index is very complete in it’s cross indexing.I find it super helpful and in fact keep it with my yoga gear in case i need inspiration or enlightenment during my practice. thrilled to have it.
I love this book, 10 years ago I found a copy at my library, and it literally changed my life, and can't say enough about it. Its an excellent introduction to yoga, and allowed me to start my own practice in my own home for free. The chronic pain and migraines I had been experiencing for several years started to disappear after only two weeks of following the upper back and neck routines. Nothing else had even a fraction of that effect, except weekly massage, which becomes too expensive. I highly recommend this book to anyone thinking of starting to do yoga on their own.
One of the best yoga books around with all of the most common poses for restorative Iyengar yoga. Also has prescriptions or series of yoga poses for various conditions. Beautiful photos which illustrate the poses from all angles. Iyengar is probably the easiest yoga because its approach is to heal and therefore uses a lot of props to enable anyone to do yoga.
A very complete book including infromations on the Yoga Practice and BKS Iyengar then a very detailed description of each posture and then series, inclduing amazing ones detailed for each ailments ! There are so many ways that book can be used to benefit everyone it is amazing. I was looking for this book as part as a teacher training program and ended up offering it to a loved one for his own practice and buying another one for myself and I am delighted I did. It is a really good ressource and can be used in so many different ways ! I recommand buying this book and keeping it close to your mat !
This book provides an explanation of what Iyengar Yoga is and who BKS Iyengar was, and it also provides detailed information about many asanas and how to achieve them. There are 360-degree sets of photos to illustrate each asana, and suggested series of asanas for different purposes. I found this to be very educational and a good reference as I begin to learn this type of yoga.
