As good as you can get with the exception of seeing the original lectures.This is a transcript.He did not write any lecture, but had notes. He did not like writing.I don't think a single book with him credited as author was actually written by him, but a transcript or someone quoting his words.And when you hear him tell of all these things you realize this guy truly knows what he is talking about. and the tiny errors he makes in the lecture actually make you realize how Intelligent he is, and how much he loves physics.
An excellent, though somewhat challenging read. Feynman's talent for presenting complex physics without resorting to high level math is outstandingly obvious in this work.
I've been on a bit of a pop-physics bender recently and came across a few Feynman lectures on YouTube. I've tried reading a couple of other Feynman books (eg the 6 easy/not-so-easy pieces) and felt disappointed they weren't the complete series of lectures. This series on the character of physical law is a wonderfully clear description of how physics sat in the 1960s that still feels fresh today. That all of the lectures are present means that complex ideas can be developed properly and delivered over a few chapters. This is a great text for any science nerds who want a genius to clarify for them exactly what it is about science that is so entrancing, from the perspective of physics.
Feynman always used plain English, so one can readily understand what he is talking about. Some of the concepts, however, are not easy, even for the technically educated, e.g. physicists and engineers. This is a book that is best read in relatively small doses and bears revisiting. It's well worth the effort though.
I used this as a text for a university course I taught years ago to liberal arts majors. This book reveals the elegant essence of physics to (even a non mathematical) reader, and would be especially beneficial as a precursor to anyone's first physics class.
Worth every penny. Good audio quality too. If you love science and specifically physics, be sure to throw this one in your glove compartment as it's a great listen on those long drives.
Dr. Feynman's love of science is most evident when he does presentations for non-professionals. His descriptions are complete and clear, helping us truly understand without the overwhelming mathematics that is his stock in trade. I am a physicist myself, and I still learn something every time I read one of his books. Try "You Must Be Kidding" for another fun trip.

I used to be terrified of speaking in front of a group. As I’ve matured, I’m no longer terrified, but still find it uncomfortable and worse, I can’t think of anything interesting to say. If you cannot interest your audience, you’re going to lose them in about 30 seconds. After reading Magic of Impromptu Speaking, I feel more confident than ever with public speaking. Author Andrii Sedniev presents the most effective public speaking techniques from all over the world in this useful guide, including winners of speaking contests to politicians to stand-up comedians to actors. When speaking in front of an audience, inexperience is usually obvious. The methods outlined in this book eliminates the mistakes that inexperienced and nervous speakers often have. But these proven techniques don’t just apply to speaking in front of a group, but it also works with face-to-face conversations. I’m definitely not a small-talker, but I do enjoy interesting one-to-one. Getting to know these impromptu skills will help you begin conversations and build into interesting lively discussions. This is an excellent book for anyone so hate speaking to an audience or just has a bit of trouble starting conversations.
Short and easy read. The advice in this book is probably best suited for a newbie / someone with no public speaking or teaching experience. As a long-time college teacher, I found much of the advice in this book to be good, but obvious. I did find a few gems that I really liked. My favorite tip is, "When you speak in front of the audience, it's not a private conversation anymore and your goal is not to say what you really think but to give value. Be creative, avoid predictable directions and your speeches will be remembered for years."

While I can attest to the usefulness of many of the elements exhibited in Sedniev's system, such as positive attitude, energetic demeanor, and preparedness, I absolutely rejoiced over the section about how to think on your feet, particularly the part about stopping your internal dialogue. This has always been a major issue for me, though I have learned to overcome it. Too often when asked a question or made to speak on the spot, the analytical left brain kicks in, numbing your mind with worry, fear, and ultimately, causes you to overthink your answers. Sedniev's system suggests quickly and effectively shutting down the overly analytical left brain by latching onto the first thought and running with it. I found this advice to be the most beneficial to speakers, as fear and nerves can often get in the way.Sedniev's Magic of Impromptu Speaking far from disappoints. But for a few hitches in editing here and there, it is not only wonderfully meticulous, but is also rich with examples and thorough enough to have you on your way to becoming an incredible impromptu speaker.
There are very few books that deals with impromptu speaking in such a clear manner. More examples would definitely help but still we can revisit the book more often to gain experience with the strategies. The best ones are to use slant technique and to use the transition strategies to get back to what you want to talk irrespective of the topic posed to you. Great read. Don't miss.
Sedniev applies widely known methodologies in a condensed and swift read. It's a solid reference, but as the author clearly explains, there is simply no substitute for experiene. Deliberate application of Sedniev's methods in actual practice will make anyone a better impromptu speaker.
Quick read and very useful. Anyone is bound to pick up a useful nugget. I ended up using the 100 questions at the end for our cocktail party dinners.
As our family grows and formal get-together's make a come back, I have found myself giving more speeches than I could ever imagined giving. I don't have a problem with public speaking, in fact, I do it every single day, but trying to sounds eloquent on short notice is more challenging. Not normally a fan of self-help style books, I set out looking for more of a guide to help with those short notice, impromptu speeches when I came upon this book. The author has given us a very well written guide to makes speeches that doesn't read like a self-help book. It is more like the author is sitting down with the reader and helping them through making an impromptu speech. The author even shares many of his own tips and tricks with the reader to make that speech sound effortless. He is very genuine and knows what he is talking about. In my opinion, this book should be required reading in every college-level public speaking class, that's how useful it is. After reading this book, I am now looking forward to the six birthdays, four weddings and countless other gatherings our family has coming up.
