Well, it certainly seems that the authors put a LOT of time and effort into this work. They seem to have done a tremendous amount of testing, of clubs in particular. And, then they developed a mathematical model to introduce variables that would take a lifetime to replicate by actual imperical testing with (exhausted) golfers. The result is this work, with lots of experimentation and documentation, and quite a few conclusions. However, I don't think this is the book you want to labor through if you are looking for clear and concise explanations and recommendations for your personal club selection or modification. They say you can learn something from every experience. I have to say I learned quite a few things while reading. But it was a little tough going.The authors have a newer, and perhaps more concise book on nearly the same topic, which I have not read.
This is a terrific book for those who have been searching for truth about golf clubs. The authors have developed a mathematical model of the golf club and have used computers to analyze innumerable combinations of head speed, center or gravity, club loft, club length, etc. They have come up with an analysis of what is important and what doesn't matter in golf club design. Here's what works for a driver: long (46 inches), low center of gravity, huge club face, unique bulge and roll, and very stiff light shaft. All the other stuff is of no importance, so forget about it. Outstanding.
Werner and Greig have written an excellent book on club design that is suprisingly practical. Each chapter is short and readable.The subject matter is directly applicable to playing golf. Golfers who have read Pelz and Hogan will enjoy the combination of analysis and golfing tips. The graphs and technical information can be difficult to interpert, but aren't essential to understanding the key points.

I purchased this book as part of the required reading for a college course. I was surprised at how easy it was to read and how much it kept my attention. I did not want to put the book down. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to invest the time to learn about the history of the Middle East.
I am an amateur student of Middle East history and current events, it's more of a hobby. I have read several books of varying types and I just can't put this one down. The chapters are well organized and it is written in plain, easy to read text. I highly recommend it.
The book is sometimes light on detail when discussing matters such as the Lebanese Civil War and the massacre in Hamas, but it does a great job of educating the reader about historical trends and how they relate to each other. It also moves between country histories and regional history smoothly. If your interest is in North Africa, this is not the best book for you.
I purchased the kindle version of this book as part of the required reading for a History class I am taking. The book is well-written and informative. There have been many times that I have used this book as the main source for papers and discussion assignments. It gives a comprehensive history of the Middle East, including the roles of Islam, interference and support from the West and East, and how the countries we know today came into existence. The only reason I did not give the book 5 stars is because the kindle version does not have page numbers. If I were reading this book for my own enjoyment, this would not have been a problem, but because I needed this book for a class, it was difficult to quote the book as a source with no page numbers. I had to use the Index a lot to count back or forward to the page I needed. The Index is also cut off, so the first two words or so of each entry are cut off, which makes is difficult to find the topic for which I am searching. Other than these formatting issues, the book would have received 5 stars.
For those who want basic knowledge about the Middle East from the Ottoman Empire til today, there is no better source that than William Cleveland's A HISTORY OF THE MODERN MIDDLE EAST 3rd Ed. The book is readable and well organized. The subdivisions of chapters along with their titles facilitate the readers understanding of the topics. At first glance a work of over 500 pages looks extremely challenging however, I actually got to points where I could not put the book down.If there is one thesis that runs through the book I would say it is found in the final conclusion. It is that we fail to understand the legacy spawned by the disemberment of the Ottoman Empire early in the 20th century. "The end of the Ottoman order created new Arab states separated by new borders drawn by British and French officials to serve European imperial interest." Coupled with the desire of Eurpe and America to maintain its supply of oil and the creation of the State of Isreal, there exist a formula for disorder and confusion that will probably never be settled.Cleveland fairly gives both sides of the extremely controversial picture that pits two religions - Islam and Judism - against each other. He shows how both religions are also greater than the concept of religion held by most Americans. In both cases, religion is also a part of the government and law.There are not answers in the book, but for the thinking person who wants to understand the Middle East, Cleveland goes a long way in terms of helping each person come to their own conclusions.
I would summarize this book as an eye opener. I became interested in the topic due to the increased mentions of the Middle East in the news and even casual conversations in the public. Often we rush to offer an opinion on the matter, sadly, before even asking ourselves "do we really know anything about the topic at hand?"Have you ever caught yourself asking "why are Iraqis so divided?", "How did Mecca become the destination of Muslim pilgrimage?", "How do small countries such as Kuwait, Bahrain, UAE, Qatar get established and survive as separate entities with such large neighbors (don't forget, oil was not in commercial use until 1930s and really after 1940s)?", "Why each Muslim country even though portrayed being the same as the other is really unique (e.g. Iraq, Iran, Egypt, Turkey)". I could go on and on and this book answered ALL of my questions and it sure will answer yours. I was totally shocked at the material and finally believe I can understand and reason on what is happening today.Even more, in general, we repeat the mistakes of history, and this book has plenty of such examples that apply to the current events. Also, in my opinion, it contains one of the best portrayals how world powers balance each other in different regions. If you are scared of behind the scenes manipulations by major players such as USA, China, and Russia in the region, this is nothing new. France, Russia, and Britain were the masters of it long before the current three came around.
Listening or reading the news nowadays becomes increasingly difficult as we hear about unknown nations going through wars and events that we don't understand. Whether you're a student or not, "A History of the Modern Middle East" will help you get a better understanding of foreign affairs. Five or six years ago during a most difficult time in my life, I found myself in the wee hours of the morning performing this business of watching what was happening to me internally--just watching it and letting it be. Sometimes I would talk to it, but mostly just watch. Then one day while talking to a friend and telling her about my early morning experience, she asked me if I knew what I was doing. I told her, "no." She then said it was what was called, "focusing" and that I should get a book on this very topic by Dr. Gendlin. I did and that led to this book. This book for me was a true mind opener and changer. This book led me from living totally in my mind to living by my inner terrain. Yes, my mind/brain rebels, but I've found that when I do find a way to 'drop the reins,' it not only works out but in a way I never would have imagined.
This was my first book on the psychological technique of Focusing developed by professor at the University of Chicago a couple of decades ago to help addicts but since then finding a universal audience.. They put a slightly different twist on it that brings it closer to a way of experiencing a religious/ spiritual lifestyle from a 21st century perspective (in my humble opinion) tthat doesn't necessarily involve participation in a church community. The focuser experiences direct revelation of a sort, comfort, guidance etc by trusting the body and an innate talent to make an inner shift in perspective that can beat years of unsuccessful therapy.
Very important approach to personal growth! Simple yet deep. I recommend it to everyone who wants to learn about their innermost self and ways to become centered and peaceful.

I found this book to be quite informative, with a broad and entertaining take on the subject of communicating with the Other Side. The book is replete with some of the laws of spiritual interaction; some of the protocols associated with discarnate entities are explained in ordinary language, and make an otherwise nebulous subject quite understandable. This is a must for anyone interested in spiritualism, from the casual observer to the aspiring medium!
I loved the book, the name of it could have been a better title. It's of information and another author's prospective on Mediumship which is good because not everyone processes the same way. I think it's very hard subject to reach everyone on the same platform since we are all unique and individually receive differently. I would really like to witness this author's artistic talent too!
I believe our loved ones are around us, loving us and helping us get through their loss and our lives. This book helped further my belief and will help you as well. We need our spirit guides in this, a difficult life without them.

Cute book, but be aware of your audience. I bought this intending to give as a gift to the child of a Jewish relative & was surprised & disappointed to see a few pages in that it advises kids to "read the Bible or other inspiring work." I didn't see any indication in the description that this book favored Christianity or any religion. Naming the Bible specifically insinuates an obvious preference, and "other inspiring work" doesn't do equal justice to primary texts of other religious traditions (if that was the intent in that sentence). I have no issue with a kids' book indicating a religious preference, but I was not expecting that when I selected this one and would've appreciated some mention of Bible references in the description.
Love the rhyming in the book tat goes along with the creative pictures. Reminds me a little of Dr. Seuss that I used to read to my daughter when she was a kid. I am sure that the children reading this book will strive to join the club and will make this world a kinder better place
I am so inspired by young author Abigail Perez! As an educator I am always hoping to empower my students to take their dreams into their own hands. In a world of constant consumption, to see a young person step into the role of producer is a great example for all of us. Any elementary teacher can cause a major shift in their classroom culture by reading this book and building touchstone lessons off the clear message it presents. Who doesn't want a classroom full of super kids!

There are so many fundamental life lessons covered in this book that were presented in such a fun and easy way to understand. I love the rhymes and illustrations and my kids easily recite them as they talk about their day at the dinner table. This is a book that should be in the hands of every child and is a great spring board for deeper discussions with topics like resiliency, empathy, grit, compassion, and kindness. In addition, this book encourages kids to take care of their mind, body and soul embracing differences in culture and background. I love how she included kids with special needs.
So impressed with this young author! Abigail is definitely an inspiration. As a middle school educator, I can use this book to show my students a variety of things... from resiliency, to goal setting, to overcoming obstacles and the power of positivity. I'm excited to get a hard copy!
